2015, February 12 – 232 – passion

A lion lives inside my heart
and chases all my thoughts
I’m afraid that if I let him go
he will eat me alive and leave my corpse to rot

But all he wants is to run free
across the savannah and the plains
feeling the warm sun and the tall grass beneath his feet
and the wind flowing though his mane

perhaps to hunt a young gazelle
and taste the delicate flesh
and on a slow warm afternoon
to lie beside the watering hole and rest

to run so fast and roar so loud
for all the world to see
the lion is all my passion
and the freedom is for me.
